Baby Bed Bumper

Isn't it fun to make something for babies on your own... It is!

Been browsing around the popular websites to buy a baby bed bumper. All the cute one narrows down to Quirky prints or Applique work on it. What started as a DIY project for cost cutting, really surprised me with a quick completion time and lesser raw materials yet with a personal touch.

Now all I required was the baby crib size and the ready made bumper sizes.I stuck to the ready made measurements which is currently in the market after ensuring that it goes well with the cot that needs the bumper.

This time let me try to give a approximate expense and materials required to make a 10*160 inches bed bumper.

Foam or Wadding- 80 inches
White cloth-1.25 meters
Checked material-1 meter
Lining material-2 meters
Designs
Tracing materials
Acrylic colours
Paint brushes -Flat and Round
Colour mixing palette
Acrylic paints
Threads for Sewing

Total expenses: 1500 rupees approximately

What saves good amount of time?

  • Choose the colored fabric with two way prints or as checks.
  • Let a single colour thread be used throughout the project.
  • Just get the designs as coloured pictures from a book or online.
  • Average the size of the designs by altering the size or by adding few elements.
  • Pre-shrink all the fabrics and cut the pieces to be painted, in advance
Fabric Measurements

10*10 inch pieces with 1/2inch seam allowance just at the sides for the seam.
8pieces for painting and 8 pieces in the coloured fabric at the front.
10*160 inches for the back
10*160 inches cut 2 -Lining fabric
3*350 inches  binding fabric.Cut and Sewn.
Make cords of desired length for 14 tie points.

Happy!

How easy can a reverse glass painting be on a printed glass? , Never had experienced until I found some printed glasses available in the market for use. The ready pieces where too thin so more often logistics was a night mare. Came across a contact person before 10 years who could custom print many designs but to his night mare I chose this calendar art for outline printing. This is the only glass painting that I have repeated many times side lining my thoughts of NO REPETITION POLICY. A few policies can be overruled, when it has a beautiful outcome. Hand Embroidery on a Tailored Kameez

There always lies a mix and match set that we picked up for numerous reasons or no specific reason at all. There always are plenty options to jazz it up.That could be a challenge tooooo...When our conscious thinking sketches a look for the set that is just lying for years together, OOOPS!comes the real big challenge. Suddenly the garment disappears and wakes our mind about whom we lent it to?,is it with d dry cleaners?,Unwashed and found in the laundry pile?,after all that is sorted out..for that desi look we just remember we dint have an apt footwear. A flamboyant prospective look that we decided to drape ourselves in, gulps out a solid 30 mins of our precious time. Did we get to wear what we initially thought..No way! Anyone who could relate to this could get an idea here.. Following comes as an option to forget the mix and match and make it as a SKD (Salwar, Kameez, Duppata) set. PRIORITY: Find out that one mix and match set of Salwar, Kameez from your wardrobe that...

There is a lot to remember about this painting. Not so many people have the heart to teach for free when they had painstakingly learnt the art.I need to mention my family friend Ms. Roopa Vijay, who had managed to teach me in 2007 despite the fact that she had spent a huge sum and learnt it when she was carrying her son. Now that years have passed, this is one painting that I can't give away. Some how felt this is the way to show gratitude.
